Well things really haven’t worked out as I’d expected. Summer racing (and training) has not been a priority because of my classes. I took about a month off the bike and only started training again a few weeks ago. I felt terrible when I first got back on the bike but my fitness seems to be coming back pretty quickly. Because of school, I’m still limited to a few training days per week (2 race ride days, a hill day, and an easier day) but I think it will be enough to let me do some racing in August and early September. My plan is to take it easy again through September and then really hit the base miles hard in October.
Although these past few months haven’t gone at all as planned, I think with these modifications I can still be ready for the next collegiate season. I won’t be as well prepared as I could have been, but school is the most important thing for me right now anyway.
